Welcome to the PTCA's Versatility Program—a dynamic initiative dedicated to celebrating and preserving of the Patterdale Terrier. Originally bred as the world’s elite earth terrier, this remarkable breed was crafted for a specific purpose: to excel at traditional earth work. To this day the PTCA hold individuals that do the breeds traditional job in the spotlight as the finest examples of the breed. However, we understand that in some regions, opportunities for earth work are limited or impractical, and that a growing community of enthusiasts has embraced competitive sports with passion. The Versatility Program is our commitment to honor those individuals who continue the breed’s proud working traditions, while also recognizing the sporting and companion roles that many Patterdale Terriers proudly fulfill. By meticulously recording each dog’s accomplishments, the PTCA database distinguishes between working, sporting, and pet roles—encouraging all Patterdale Terrier owners to get their dogs off the couch and lead an active, engaged lifestyle that pays tribute to their innate drive and versatility.

Versatility Program for PTCA:
The Versatility program is designed to encourage and reward titles in multiple performance venues. To encourage sports where groundwork is banned or inaccessible.
To apply for a Versatility title proof of titles must be submitted along with the fee of $10. per Versatility title. Requirements of different levels are described under Award requirements.
Award Requirements:
Bronze
- Versatility Bronze (VB)
- Any combination of 3 different bronze performance titles from 3 different categories.
- Versatility Bronze Excellent (VBX)
- Any combination of 6 different bronze performance titles from at least 3 different categories.
Silver
- Versatility Silver (VS)
- Bronze level achievement and a combination of 4 different silver performance titles from 4 different categories.
- Versatility Silver Excellent (VSX)
- Bronze level achievement and a combination of 8 different silver performance titles from at least 4 different categories.
Gold
- Versatility Gold (VG)
- Silver level achievement and a combination of 5 different gold performance titles from 5 different categories.
- Versatility Gold Excellent (VGX)
- Silver level achievement and a combination of 10 different gold performance titles from at least 5 different categories.
Diamond
- Versatility Diamond (VD)
- Gold level achievement and a combination of 6 diamond performance titles from 6 different categories.
- Versatility Diamond Excellent (VDX)
- Gold level achievement and a combination of 12 diamond performance titles from at least 6 different categories.
